What do I mean by make it magical?
I mean to create space, remove expectations, and be joyous about whatever fruit you bear.
This blog fills such a deep hole that I’ve created to let it flourish. The hardest part is starting. The hardest part about my europe trip (to be fair, this shit is hard), is getting over the hurdle of doing it – and then by removing expectations, allowing so much space and free time, and being so joyous and grateful about all the random shit that happens.
By creating this blog, while tempering my expectations (frankly, removing them), and having a space where something really f*ing beautiful could emerge, and the risk-reward is mostly skewed to the upside (I concede that there are risks like severing my relationship with my company and risking my reputation (lol)), I feel like these are worthy bets. Play in fields with upside. To me, upside is life, love, and meaning. This recent europe trip and this blog are two prime examples of making it magical.
What is something that is less magical? Work – why? There is no sauce to it. You just do it. It’s reactive. It’s tedious – the rewards are always exactly proportionate to the work you put in – or maybe you get to receive the same reward for a little bit less work sometimes. Still reactive.
Lifting – it exposes you to more life, man. I thought it was proportional, but for me, it’s not – I feel sexy – and that feeling is priceless. The coolest people put themselves out there.
Pool – worst case, I feel grounded, present, and that reward is proportionate to the effort put in to play. Best case, pool champion – ok this is a fake goal, lol.
Idk man I could go on. Really, that’s for another post. But we can put it in here too. Chessboard will be an evergreen page and we can just update vs. Pause.
the funny thing is any box is magical when you don’t set expectations – what a courteous way to view life ~
